The Teaching, Learning and Evaluation Cell, IQAC, organized an expert talk on ‘National Accreditation and Assessment Procedures’ on the 27th April 2022. The event was chaired by Dr. Mary L. Renthlei, Associate Professor and Member, TLE Cell. The programme commenced with the chairperson’s welcome address to all faculty participants and an introduction of the Resource Person, Dr. Tawnenga, retired Principal, Pachhunga University College, who was invited to speak as an expert on NAAC procedures following his membership of NAAC peer teams on a number of previous occasions.

Dr. Tawnenga highlighted the procedure and components of the NAAC Accreditation and Assessment process and pointed out the different categories of mark allotment by peer teams. He particularly stressed on the importance of Best Practices and ‘distinctiveness’ of the institution. He added that NAAC has a mandate to ensure quality assurance as an integral part of the functioning of the institution. He highlighted the seven criteria of the NAAC Accreditation procedure and gave extra input on the key indicators and subsequent metrics involved in the manual of every criterion.

The presentation was followed by an interaction session where the participants made a number of queries on various issues which were clarified by the Resource Person. Fifty eight (58) faculty members attended the programme. A certificate of appreciation and small honorarium was presented to Dr. Tawnenga by the Principal, Mrs. Hmingpuii Poonte.

The programme ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Professor Vanlalringa Bawitlung, Dept. of History and member of the organising Cell.
