With the backing of the Students’ Support & Progression Cell, 200 5th semester students from the English, Education, Sociology and Mizo departments attended an “Awareness Programme on Skill Development under SANKALP on the 7th September 2022 at 2 pm at the Conference Hall, Mualpui Campus. SANKALP is an abbreviation for Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion. The programme was organised by the Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (LDSDE), Government of Mizoram, in collaboration with the Higher & Technical Education and IQAC, Government Aizawl College.

The Resource Person was Mr. Lalmuanawma, Deputy Director, LESDE Skill Development Nodal Officer. He made an informative presentation on the importance of Skill development and Training, highlighting the fact that skill and knowledge are the driving forces of economic growth and social development of many country. The economy becomes more productive, innovative and competitive through the existence of more skilled human potential. The Resource Person placed special emphasis on skill development, especially for the less educated, the poor and the young. He also focused on the importance of vocational training courses / activities. The courses have been designed to impart the basic skills and knowledge in the trade so as to prepare trainees for employment as semi-skilled and skilled workers in the world of work or to go for the self- employment.
